About Alan Stenback Photography

Welcome to Alan Stenback Photography — where wild landscapes, dark skies, and creative exploration come together.

Based in the Colorado Rockies, Alan specializes in photographing the intersection of rugged landscapes and celestial light. From moonrises over alpine peaks to Milky Way arcs above ancient bristlecone pines, his work reflects years spent studying the rhythms of light, weather, and the night sky.

Through photography workshops and retreats, Alan shares the techniques, preparation, and fieldcraft needed to confidently photograph the night sky and dramatic landscapes of the American West.

Workshops & Retreats

Photography is about more than capturing an image — it’s about learning to see.

Together with his wife Gina, Alan leads small-group photography workshops and immersive retreats designed to help photographers develop both technical skill and creative confidence.

Each experience combines:

  • Hands-on instruction in the field
  • Small group learning environments
  • Some of the darkest skies and most dramatic landscapes in the West

Whether you’re photographing your first Milky Way or refining advanced night photography techniques, these workshops are designed to help you create your strongest images yet.
